Who Are We?

Open Steppe Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan initiative dedicated to making Central Asia more accessible to scholars and policymakers in the United States. We analyze geopolitical phenomena and examine the deeper forces shaping the region today, from cultural dynamics to environmental issues, human development, security, and governance. By bringing together researchers from the U.S. and Central Asia, OSI builds a transnational platform for emerging voices and fresh perspectives. By elevating diverse viewpoints and promoting interregional collaboration, we strive to improve human-to-human connections between the U.S. and Central Asia.
